Titan Wheel

Titan Wheel

454 kW
Project Size
Quincy, Illinois
Location

Titan Wheel completed a large solar installation on the roof of its Quincy, Illinois manufacturing facility. The Quincy location produces off-road wheels for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the agriculture, construction, defense, forestry, and mining industries.

Specifications

The 454 kilowatt (kW) rooftop array is expected to generate over 620,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year. The installation includes 825 Philadelphia Solar PS-M144 Half-Cell Bifacial modules and four Solis 5G-series inverters. The bifacial solar panels generate power from both sides by capturing light reflected off the facility’s white roof.

The inverters enabled a cutting-edge approach to meeting rapid shutdown requirements for solar array safety. This technology, along with electrical cabling installed to an exacting standard, allowed the design and engineering team to replace over 400 rapid shutdown devices with just four devices, eliminating numerous potential failure points, increasing safety for firefighters and other emergency personnel, and significantly reducing operations and maintenance needs.

Project Partners

Titan worked with project partners Ideal Energy and QFB Energy to develop the project. QFB Energy is a provider of energy strategy, consulting, and contract brokering services. Ideal Energy designed and built the solar array, and served as the Approved Vendor for the Adjustable Block Program.
