Alliant Energy partnered with the Creston Community School District to develop a 1.4 MW array, called the Panther Solar Field, adjacent to the Creston High School in Creston, Iowa. The project is part of Alliant’s Customer-Hosted Renewables program, which allows businesses and communities to host solar farms or battery storage systems on their land in exchange for monthly lease payments. Alliant Energy will pay Creston Schools $69,013 per year in lease payments in exchange for the use of the land for 20 years, with three options to renew for 5 years. The solar field, owned by Alliant Energy, will generate clean, renewable energy for use by the community.
